The Journey of Edward E Bao

What I’ve Done

After graduating undergrad with a history degree, I created a 60+ page memoir detailing my grandfather's life, from starting on a plantation in Cuba to being an apple picker in Kansas City, Mo, to finally ending up on Wall Street as a Vice President.

Preserving a Remarkable Story

My Grandfather has lived a remarkable life and had always wanted to write a memoir. Sadly he was busy taking care of my Grandmother Marta the last few years so he never got the chance to write his own. After graduating from Lehigh I knew preserving his story from him living through the Cuban Revolution to living the American Dream in New York City was something I had to do.

Vast Amounts of Research Required

Writing this piece of history required tens of hours of interviews with my Grandfather and research into the primary sources he provided from his hometown of Preston, Cuba. Each chapter begins with short writings by my Grandfather which is then followed by an overall summary/analysis of that period of his life
